When a passion for bees meets Mauritius
It all began in the lush green hills of Flacq, on the east coast of Mauritius. Jean-Pierre Bienvenue, son and grandson of beekeepers, grew up surrounded by the buzzing of bees and the intoxicating scent of lychee blossoms. What started as a family legacy became a true calling: to produce the finest honey on the island.
In 2018, Jean-Pierre founded Ruchers de l'Est with a simple but bold conviction: Mauritian honey deserves to be known and recognised at its true value. He started with three hives and unwavering determination. Today, our apiaries count more than fifty colonies spread across the preserved valleys of the East, each producing honey with unique aromas, a faithful reflection of our island's exceptional terroir.
With Miel.mu, we are taking a new step: making our exceptional honey accessible to all Mauritians, directly from our apiaries to your table. No intermediaries, no compromise on quality — just pure honey, harvested with love and respect for nature.

Our mission is twofold: to offer Mauritian families premium raw honey, and to protect bees and their natural habitat. We believe that a product can only be truly excellent if it is produced with respect for those who create it — our precious bees. Every decision we make, from choosing the location of our apiaries to designing our packaging, is guided by this philosophy.
